DRK Resources Tech Important Business Continuity Tip

DRK Resources Tech Important Business Continuity Tip :

You will never get a notice that your Extended Warranty, F&I, or Vehicle Contract Platform As A Service (PaaS) Provider is going under, closing, or is going to have a multiple day unplanned outage, so prepare your company for Business Continuity by doing the following :

  • While negotiating or renegotiating your contract with your Extended Warranty, F&I, or Vehicle Contract Platform As A Service (PaaS) Provider, make sure you have a contract clause stating they need to provide you a daily database backup of your all your data meaning not just your agreement and claims transaction data. You need to ask for all your master tables for example accounting distributions, customers, clients, dealers, products, servicers, etc. You need all your data to run your business.

  • Make sure that daily backup is a common DB format, DB Dump, or CSV format that you can use to restore in you local environment server, or pc.

  • Make sure you can automate the download of your daily backup. Most PaaS providers offer SFTP for secured download of reports, so placing your daily backup on their SFTP should be an easy task.

  • Make sure you document and test restoring your backup file periodically or better yet have an automated process to restore it daily.

  • It is not pretty or efficient, but if your PaaS provider close, goes under, or has a major outage you have your data that can support your business in the short term.

DRK Resources Tech has worked with multiple clients to download and restore their daily PaaS Provider backup to their local environment and can do the same for you. If you have a current data warehouse and BI tool we can also import your data there for reporting and KPI's.
